TAN Jian-Chung

Tan Jian-Chung - Painter

Tan Jian-Chung, born in 1965 in Taiwan, is a contemporary painter renowned for his Chinese ink paintings. He graduated from the National School of Art in Taiwan, holds an advanced diploma from the School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg, and a doctorate in arts from the University of Lorraine. Tan Jian-Chung was also trained by the great masters of Chinese painting, Li Chi-Mao and Su Feng Nan.

Education and Techniques 

In his work, created with Chinese ink or watercolor mixed with mineral materials, Tan Jian-Chung combines traditional Chinese painting techniques with influences from Western lyrical abstraction. His works invite meditation, celebrating the harmony between nature and humanity. He enjoys spontaneous painting, and his artworks are characterized by broad and expressive strokes, reflecting his impressions and feelings.

Exhibitions and Awards

Tan Jian-Chung has exhibited his works in several galleries worldwide, including in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and France, particularly at the ARS ESSENTIA Gallery in Beaune, Burgundy, France. He has received numerous awards for his Chinese paintings, including:

2000: Excellence Award for Chinese Painting at the 13th Xing-Zhung Exhibition.

1999: Excellence Award for Chinese Painting at the 13th Southern Taiwan Exhibition.

1998: First Prize for Chinese Painting at the Soun-Yi-Xian Memorial Competition for Young Artists.

1998: First Prize for Chinese Painting at the University Competitions in Taiwan.

1998: Excellence Award for Chinese Painting at the National Taiwan University of Arts Exhibition.

1997: First Prize for Chinese Painting at the 44th Central Taiwan Exhibition.

1997: First Prize for Chinese Painting at the Third Tainan Exhibition.

1996: First Prize for Chinese Painting at the "Da-Dau" Competitions.

1996: Excellence Award for Chinese Painting at the National Taiwan University of Arts.
